MCT Enters Mass Production Phase for Advanced Autonomous Driving IMU Sensors

On March 31, 2025, MCT held the “SUMACO MA5 Mass Production Supply Ceremony” at the Intelligent Manufacturing Center in Wujin District, Changzhou, Jiangsu. This production launch event marks the official entry of the company’s independently developed automotive-grade Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU), SUMACO MA5, into the phase of large-scale supply. The product has passed the rigorous automotive-grade certification of a leading domestic new energy vehicle brand and is now integrated into its next-generation intelligent driving models. As a critical link in the intelligent driving supply chain, MCT has officially joined the ranks of front-installed mass production suppliers for advanced autonomous driving — laying a key foundation for expanding its customer base among major OEMs.

Core Capability: The Automotive-Grade IMU Module as the “Passport” to Advanced Autonomous Driving
Achieving mass production of an automotive-grade IMU module is the ultimate “passport” to advanced autonomous driving. SUMACO MA5 strictly complies with the ISO 26262 ASIL B functional safety standard, with full-temperature calibration performed at the factory. Its core performance metrics — including gyroscope bias instability (Allan) (<2°/h), gyroscope full-temperature bias (<0.1°/s), and accelerometer full-temperature bias (<0.03mg) — all reach industry-leading levels. The product features an integrated tri-axis MEMS gyroscope + tri-axis accelerometer design, supports deep SDK integration with domain controller SoCs, and seamlessly adapts to cockpit-driving integrated platforms — providing all-weather, all-scenario high-precision attitude sensing for intelligent driving systems.
In the past, it typically took three to five years or longer for automotive-grade core components to complete the journey from R&D through rigorous certification. Starting from mid-2023, MCT achieved in under 21 months the full set of automotive-grade manufacturing certifications — including IATF 16949, ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001 — while securing hardware program nominations from multiple leading OEMs during the same period. Throughout the automotive-grade production line ramp-up and project delivery process, MCT overcame numerous challenges: identifying and correcting sensitivity to ambient micro-vibrations, optimizing 3D vision applications on automated assembly lines, ensuring stable operation of an 8-layer tooling system, and resolving domain controller IMU data synchronization latency issues. With the industry’s rare “MCT Speed” — just 7 months (August 2024 to March 2025) — the company delivered high-quality mass production of passenger vehicle advanced autonomous driving IMU modules. This achievement reflects the innovative ingenuity and relentless dedication of MCT’s engineers, as well as the deep trust of its customers and partners.
MCT President Jin Shuixiang stated: “Mass production of an automotive-grade IMU product is a four-fold test of technological capability, quality systems, supply chain management, and intelligent manufacturing. The mass production of MA5 demonstrates that we have established full-stack capabilities spanning product R&D, algorithm toolchains, and large-scale delivery. Over the next three years, the SUMACO series will cover L2–L4 autonomous driving requirements, providing strong support for the large-scale deployment of advanced intelligent driving.”

Smart Manufacturing Upgrade: Fully Automated IMU Module Calibration Line Drives Technology Independence
MCT’s SUMACO IMU module calibration production line is built around the core philosophy of “high-precision manufacturing + intelligent calibration,” creating a closed-loop technical system that covers all critical processes. The line integrates three key capability modules:
- In the precision machining stage, leveraging micron-level machining accuracy and proprietary tooling systems, the line achieves ultra-precision forming of core sensor structural components with tightly controlled batch-to-batch consistency;
- In the intelligent calibration stage, a fully automated thermal cycling–dynamic composite calibration system supports wide-temperature-range environment simulation, multi-degree-of-freedom dynamic pose calibration, and real-time error modeling — autonomously performing key parameter optimization such as temperature drift compensation and mechanical error decoupling;
- In the verification stage, a multi-dimensional reliability testing platform — equipped with high-precision turntables and temperature-controlled test chambers — enables complex operating condition simulation and full lifecycle performance traceability.

Strategic Expansion: Full Acceleration of the SUMACO Product Line
Leveraging the SUMACO MA5 mass production milestone, MCT is comprehensively upgrading its SUMACO product strategy and accelerating the development of a full-stack technology portfolio for the era of spatial robotics:
- Core Breakthrough: Strengthening foundational IMU product capabilities to establish an integrated advantage spanning chip packaging and testing through module design and development;
- Technology Extension: Iterating and developing the next-generation IMU module compliant with ASIL D functional safety standards, compatible with multi-modal fusion positioning system architectures;
- Ecosystem Innovation: Collaborating across the supply chain to build a technology ecosystem for attitude sensing and absolute positioning — with a focus on breakthroughs in highly integrated, all-in-one module design to reduce the complexity of autonomous driving system development and improve delivery efficiency;
- Production Capacity: Scaling annual production capacity at the Changzhou Intelligent Manufacturing Center to 3 million units, establishing a flexible manufacturing system to meet large-scale delivery demands;
- Service Enablement: Building a customized service framework for OEMs, providing full lifecycle support from engineering development and automotive-grade validation through mass production ramp-up.
As a core perception unit for intelligent driving, the SUMACO product series continuously enhances the precision and reliability of vehicle attitude sensing through the co-evolution of IMU chips and multi-source fusion algorithms. While delivering reliable positioning in complex scenarios, the series leverages deep fusion technology to extend the safety boundaries of autonomous driving systems — providing all-weather perception assurance for L2–L4 intelligent driving. The mass production of this product portfolio marks a further integration of MCT’s “chip–module–algorithm” trinity, with solutions that can meet OEM-customized development requirements while also offering Tier 2 core component supply solutions to intelligent connected vehicle industry ecosystem partners through a standardized, open, and replicable algorithm toolchain model.
MCT has already initiated technical engagements with multiple mainstream automakers and Tier 1 suppliers, with the SUMACO series compatible with a wide range of advanced autonomous driving functions. We warmly invite OEM customers and partners to follow our product updates and explore collaboration opportunities together — advancing the democratization of intelligent driving technology. MCT will continue to deliver more reliable, safer, and more precise mass production positioning solutions for customers, contributing to the large-scale deployment of advanced autonomous driving.
